Earlier this month John and Edward announced that €1 from each ticket at their three Irish concerts this coming October would be donated to JoinOurBoys.org as part of their ongoing support of the charity, and tweeted the following video interview with Paula and Padraic Naughton, parents of boys Archie, George and Isaac, all of whom who have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a muscular degenerative disease with no treatment and no cure.
Join Our Boys is a trust set up to raise money for the long term care of the Naughton boys, and seeks to raise consciousness of the condition, which affects approximately 1 in 3,600 boys world wide (it’s an X-chromosone recessive disease).
Together with Join Our Boys, John and Edward asked that everyone should spread awareness of the condition by getting a selfie with the hashtag, #JepicJoinOurBoys, and the URL, http://joinourboys.org
The response was overwhelming, with the tag trending worldwide:
The selfies from the evening have been put together in a video slideshow, which can be seen here.
Please give generously to Join Our Boys, and maybe one day there’ll be some positive news about this terrible condition. Be sure to follow Join Our Boys on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date about what events are to be held.
