Ahead of their concert dates at Easter comes the news that John and Edward will be part of the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Limerick, Ireland.

The twins have a long history with the City, with their father’s family coming from the area, and many of their relatives still living locally.

Limerick’s is the second largest St Patrick’s Day Parade in Ireland, after Dublin, and the twins said they were honoured to be invited to take part:

“Limerick is a beautiful city, which is full of history and I hope it becomes the European Capital of Culture in 2020,” said Edward. “I enjoy visiting Limerick because we can reconnect with our relatives and our heritage. It is an exciting, vibrant city with lots to see and do.”

Their grandfather and father had connections with Na Piarsaigh GAA Club, and their father was the first member of Na Piarsaigh Club to play Senior intercounty hurling with Limerick.

John and Edward’s grandmother Emily, and their Grand Aunt Florrie started a dress making company in Limerick during World War 2 which eventually employed 44 people.

Their Great Uncle, Vincent Feeney was the Mayor of Limerick n 1965-1966, and the Feeney family ran the Abbey Court and Imperial Bakery for many years, also winning All Ireland Bakers of the Year a number of times.

Jedward will be performing on St Patrick’s Day Eve at Three Sisters Bar, Edinburgh, as part of their St Patrick’s Festival.
